Privacy Policy & Use Notice

How your journal is stored, how Android advertising works, and the limits of quotes and Mindset perspectives.

Effective date: 22 October 2026
App creator and operator: Darryl Roach, Trinidad & Tobago
Privacy and support: darrylroach41@gmail.com

The essentials

1. Scope and purpose

This notice covers the Be Positive Android journaling app and, where expressly identified below, its separate PC/web edition. Be Positive offers six everyday journaling questions, saved entries, drafts, a calendar, encouraging quotes and Mindset perspectives. It does not require an online account or sign-in.

This policy describes Be Positive. The author website, Pitch Marbles and external services have their own disclosures. The existing website and Pitch Marbles privacy policy remains available separately.

2. Information stored on your device

Be Positive saves the first name you enter, self-reported age, chosen theme, journal answers, feelings, unfinished drafts, saved entries, favourite entries or quotes, and acknowledgement of the app notice. These support the journal's features and remember your preferences. Your exact age and name are not added to ad requests.

We do not operate a server that receives or stores these journals. Be Positive does not send your journal text, profile name, exact age, feelings, saved quotes or optional Mindset note to the developer, an AI service or AdMob as advertising inputs. Google's advertising SDK can process device and app-usage information described in section 5.

Android: journal data is encrypted in app-private storage, with a key held through AndroidKeyStore. Hardware protection depends on your device. Automatic Android app-data backup and device-transfer extraction are disabled for this app. There is no separate app PIN: anyone able to use the unlocked app may be able to read its journal. Encryption cannot guarantee security on a compromised device.

PC/web edition: journal data is saved in the browser profile on that computer and is not encrypted by the app. Different browsers, profiles or website addresses may have separate storage. Clearing browser data can erase the journal. The supplied standalone PC edition contains no AdMob SDK, analytics SDK or AI service. Website hosts may still process normal connection information if you use a hosted copy.

3. Backups, exports and restore

You may choose to export a JSON backup or readable text file. These files are not encrypted and may contain your profile and private journal content. You choose their destination. A file provider you select, such as a cloud drive, may upload or retain those files under its own policy; this is not automatic syncing by Be Positive.

Keep exports private. Delete unwanted exported files separately, including copies in cloud storage, email or other backups. Readable text is for reading and cannot restore a journal. JSON restore adds missing dates and combines quote favourites while keeping existing conflicting entries and drafts and the current profile.

4. Mindset, quotes and wellness limits

Mindset provides ten fixed English perspectives across five everyday topics. These are pre-written, rather than generated by AI or tailored as professional advice. An optional note is processed on your device. The note and displayed perspective are temporary and are not included in journal storage or backups. The Android app clears them when you leave Mindset, reset the profile or background the app; the web edition clears them on leaving Mindset or closing the page.

A limited local word screen may show a support or scope message. It can misunderstand ordinary writing and miss serious concerns, disguised wording or other languages. It is not a reliable risk detector or a safety assessment. Quotes and perspectives may contain errors or be incomplete, unsuitable or unhelpful in your circumstances. You can skip them, and you do not need to feel positive all the time.

Be Positive is for everyday reflection, not medical or mental-health diagnosis, treatment, a cure, professional advice or emergency support. Do not change treatment, ignore professional advice or make consequential decisions because of an app response. Consult a qualified healthcare professional about health concerns.

Nobody monitors your writing. The app cannot contact help for you. If there is immediate danger, contact local emergency services or seek urgent in-person help.

5. Advertising and information handled by Google

The Android edition uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). One small banner may appear on Quotes and Calendar after the relevant notice and advertising-privacy checks. The app hides banners on Home, Journal and Mindset, during setup, entry review and app notices, and while typing. It does not use full-screen or rewarded ads. Ad availability is not guaranteed.

The app is configured to request non-personalized ads. That does not mean no data is processed. Google's advertising SDK collects and shares information for advertising, measurement, analytics, security and fraud prevention, including:

Google states that data collected by its Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS. Be Positive does not request precise location permission or provide journal content as ad-targeting data. Advertising suppliers may process information internationally and retain it according to their own policies and obligations.

For details, see Google's Privacy Policy, how Google uses information from partner apps and sites, and the Google Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure.

6. Consent and advertising choices

Be Positive uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to check applicable advertising-consent requirements and display available consent forms before requesting ads. Where Google requires a privacy-options entry, Advertising privacy choices is available in the app's About & Privacy notice so you can revisit your choices.

Acknowledging the Be Positive use notice is separate from granting advertising consent. You can use the journal without consenting to personalized advertising. Ad delivery after your choices depends on Google's consent and eligibility checks; declining consent does not necessarily prevent every form of advertising. Core journaling and quote features work offline.

You can also use the advertising-ID controls in Android settings. Consent choices and deleting an advertising ID do not themselves delete local journals or all records already retained by advertising providers.

7. Retention, reset and deletion

Local journal information remains on your device until you delete it, clear app/browser storage, uninstall the Android app or lose access to the device or encryption key. We cannot recover a journal from a developer server. Keep a private backup if you want to retain your entries.

Deleting local app data does not erase records held by Google or copies retained by services you chose for exports. Google provides its own privacy controls and request channels.

8. Adults-only audience

Be Positive is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. Age entered in the app is self-reported and is not verified identity information. If you are under 18, do not use this release. If you believe a child has contacted us or supplied personal information directly to us, contact the address below so we can review and address that information.

9. Support messages and this policy webpage

If you email support, your email address and the information you choose to include are processed to respond and resolve your request. Please do not email private journal entries unless necessary for the request. Support messages may be retained as needed to handle the issue, maintain necessary records and meet applicable obligations. The email provider processes messages under its own terms.

This policy webpage contains no embedded advertising, analytics code or external font requests. Loading it still sends normal connection information, such as IP address and browser request information, to the website host, Netlify, for delivery and security. Visiting other pages on darryldroach.com is covered by the website privacy policy.

10. Privacy questions and rights

Contact Darryl Roach at darrylroach41@gmail.com for privacy or app-support questions. Depending on where you live and the information involved, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, obtain a copy of information or withdraw consent. You may also be able to raise a concern with your local data-protection authority.

We can address information we actually hold, such as support correspondence, and explain local deletion controls. We cannot access or remotely erase a journal saved only on your device. For data handled by Google, use Google's privacy controls or contact Google directly. We may need reasonable information to verify a request, but please do not send identity documents or sensitive journal content unless specifically necessary and arranged appropriately.

11. Changes and your rights

We will update this page's effective date when this policy changes. Material changes to the app notice may require a fresh acknowledgement in the app; any additional advertising consent is handled separately. Features or data practices may change with future releases, and the policy and app disclosures should reflect those changes.

This notice explains the app's practices and limitations. It does not guarantee an outcome or remove rights or responsibilities under applicable law.
